This weeks guest on the podcast is Natalie Henderson, Lead Youth Development Coach at Newcastle United Academy.
With Natalie we discussed her own football journey & the struggles that women footballers have if they went to make a career in the game, along with her own personal struggles with injury, guiding her on a path of coaching.
One of the main topics we discuss is the mental health of young athletes, the pressures & stereotypical male persona in sport of not being able to show any weakness & how it can massively impact a young athlete both on & off the pitch.
We finally talk about Natalie’s latest project the ‘Player Padlock Pad’ which is football based journal for athletes to use to reflect on their own performance & emotions after training or games.
